To
Whom it May Concern,
I am writing an open letter to all you lovely people who
are concerned about the H.I.V. epidemic.
The worst day of my life was in 1992
when I was informed that I had the problem. All the thoughts we all have went
straight to my head and heart. "Am I going to die soon, can I have any hope, can
I make up for the wrongs in my life?" All the thoughts and fears came into play.
I got mad, I prayed, I was afraid and scared. I had no answers and so many
questions and no one to talk to that I knew.
I was blessed, however, and that
is the reason for this open letter to you.
My "T" cells were 450 (which, as
I'm sure you know, is low), but I came across some concerned medical people and
they put me on the following: A.Z.T. and Bactrim, vaccine for pneumonia, vaccine
for flu. My "T" cells are now in the 500 range and I am progressing
everyday.
I had lost everything when I got the news: my wife, son, job and
home, everything that was dear to me.4/8/2008
I know that I am at fault as I
was a drug addict, but for some reason God is looking out for me and I am not as
afraid as I used to be.
I want to "school" other people who have this
devastating problem about how not having sex etc. and
spread it anymore than it is now. The job we have to do (and it is so very
important to everyone) is to be responsible in our behavior and care about our
fellow man. I know so many people that have this disease and don't give a
s— about who they hurt, etc. They should be treated like any other criminal. We
must be on the front lines of this battle. If we don't educate the dummies, then
we are at fault. We are the ones who know all the fears, etc. etc. etc., that we
are going through.
One thing is for sure. If we all stick together, maybe,
just maybe, we will be the ones to solve this very serious and devastating
problem
The ones who win the wars are the ones who fight them. This is our
war and our job is to never give up, even if we lose our lives. Maybe we screwed
up in some way, but we have a chance now to make good.
I hope in some
fashion, you understand what I am saying. I pray for us all, but we must help
others even if we give up. In the meantime folks, let's give it our best shot
and God bless us all.
If you can help me keep up the faith, please feel free
to call me at (410) 325-8857. My happiness etc. depends on the folks like you
who really do care. Please do let me know that everything will be O.K. I will
write to you also. Thanks, and let's fight this war for
others.
Sincerely,
Mike
